Are you a young or beginning farmer? A search is on for a young or new farmer to serve as a year-long public figure, e.g. be the “Face of Farming.” The selected farmer will participate in talk shows, radio interviews, magazine write ups, etc. The farmer will receive $15,000 to compensate for time and participation.
The application process is open to any and all farmers. Applicants should visit FoodDialogues.com/Faces to complete an application entry
form, and to submit a video no longer than three minutes that shows their
operation and their role on the farm/ranch. Entries will be accepted until
Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 11:59:59 CT.
Finalists will be announced in early September, and each finalist
will be profiled on FoodDialogues.com. The general public will be able to vote online
for their favorite in late October through early November.
A combination of public votes and USFRA judges’ scores
will determine the winners, who will be announced on November 12 at
the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention (NAFB)
in Kansas City. Winners will receive a $15,000 stipend to help cover the
costs of being away from their operations. They’ll also receive
professional media/speaker training and full support through their yearlong
tenure.
Winners will serve in multiple high-visibility roles,
participating in a number of activities including national media
interviews, advertising and public appearances.
