Full time position at Everett Family Farm

Location:  2111 Old San Jose Road  Soquel (near Santa Cruz), Ca. 95073

Title:  Farm Manager specializing in row crops production and all aspects of running a working farm.  Responsible for everything from seed to harvest and selling. 7-10 acres of flat land dedicated to the row crops.  The farm has 45 acres.

Starts: TBD, but it would be good to work with our 3 managers (grads of CASFS) as they transition off the farm in Oct/Nov.  Dec/Jan will require part time work and full time starts in Feb. 2014.  All dates some what flexible

Ends: Prefer 3 year commitment

Overview of the positions: 1-2 people can work together as farm managers, splitting the workload and profits.  The position focuses on growing, maintaining, selling the row crops/veggies the farm produces.  There are three avenues of selling, the farm stand, farmers markets, and wholesale (all three avenues are set up and we traditionally sell out of nearly everything we can grow)

This unique opportunity can work in several ways. You can work in a salary position and manage the process or you (and partner) can work in a revenue & cost sharing process.  Our goal has been to give you the opportunity to learn and develop your farming and management skills with little risk, need for capital and major equipment while developing your skills and hopefully earning a living wage.

We strive to grow the best possible, high quality fruit and veggies, which our customers have come to expect from us.  Focusing on quality, working as a team in a nice environment where we strive to communicate clearly to all parties involved with the farm.   Everyone works really hard during the season so working on having fun, working safely, and creating an environment that we’d all like to work in is a major goal.

Living arrangements:  We have one (new) yurt, equipped with a refrig, stove, and sink which there is no charge for rent.  We currently (not sure for how long) have a one bedroom apartment above the barn that can be rented for $650 a month if things work out, completely optional.

Your own truck/van is required for your everyday work around the farm as well as to bring goods to the markets.

We encourage you to send us your resume and email us with questions.
